Let’s Talk!

Here at Business Training we  have students from all over the world – Papua New Guinea, Africa (Nigeria, Ghana, Botswana, Kenya etc), the Caribbean, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia.

Papua New Guinea has the highest number of spoken languages in the words – in fact, there are estimated to be 820 indigenous languages (yes, you read that right – 820!) And apparently, there are 521 languages spoken in Nigeria!

Plus here in the UK, as people arrive from all over Europe – and further afield – the number of languages spoken on the streets of London, Manchester and other big cities gets greater every year.

But one thing that all our students have in common is that they want to learn English. Or, if they already speak English, they want to improve so that they can do better at work and improve their life-style.

English is the second most widely spoken language in the world after Mandarin Chinese. But because of the Internet, and the fact that so much of the information we need and use on a daily basis can be accessed there, then being able to understand and use good English has become essential.

But it’s not just about being able to speak basic English, it’s about being able to use It in your job. Your language skills may be good enough to chat to your friends informally, but are they good enough to write a report at work that is concise and correct? Are they good enough to write a letter to an overseas supplier, or chat to them clearly on the telephone?

If you’re reading this and you’re not sure, then why not have a look at the courses we offer and see if they could help you in any way?

Earlier I mentioned the Internet and how important English has become because of it. So, before I leave you, here are a few facts that I found truly amazing. Every single second there are:

8063 Twitter tweets

30,000 Facebook ‘likes’

2,350,412 emails sent

Getting your head around those enormous figures certainly takes some doing!
