Okay, this week I’m only going to give you one useful website – Google! You may wonder why I’m giving you Google, it’s just a search engine right? Wrong! Google offers you a whole host of tools that could, potentially, cost you hundreds of pounds from other providers. In fact, you can start-up and run a whole business just using the free tools Google supplies. But that’s not all you can use it for, the tools also include:
• email – great for keeping in touch with people
• chat – as above but in a more immediate way
• drive – allows you to store documents online in a cloud format
• spreadsheets – good for keeping track of essays or exams and essential for any business
• calendar – never miss another deadline
• play – for when you need some music to accompany your study or five minutes of fun to rest your weary mind
• maps – pretty obvious really
• YouTube – so you can search for useful videos to help you study and upload your own
• news – to keep you up-to-date with all the latest goings on around the world in English so you can practise your reading skills
• translate – in case you need something translating from or into another language
• books – allows you to preview books before you buy, great if you are on a budget and have two options to choose between
• groups – allows you set up or participate in group discussions
• scholar – for searching scholarly articles
Plus, there’s Google+ too, which works like Facebook, but it’s much better.
And, yes, as I said, it’s all for free. Thank you Google!
