According to a recent newspaper article, brainstorming doesn’t work! Rather than generating a mass of brilliant ideas it can actually be counter-productive. Unless the session is run very carefully the most dominant or persuasive people have their ideas taken up – and they’re not always the best ones to follow through. Research in America has shown that group efforts may not be the best method of generating creativity, and that most people get their most innovative and workable ideas when sitting quietly on their own.
