Return to Business Bites back issues

In this issue we consider what gets the best results – the carrot or the stick. We provide some simple suggestions for making your copywriting really work for your business and give you some effective study tips.

If you’re considering studying a course then you obviously need to know that the college offering it is reliable, uses first-class tutors, has up-to-date course materials and is financially sound. (You don’t want to pay your fees and then find they disappear!)

That’s why here at Business Training we’re very keen on accreditation, as we feel it demonstrates our commitment to quality. With our sister college, The Writers Bureau, we are members of the Open and Distance Learning Quality Council and the British Institute for Learning and Development. In addition, we are members of The European Association for Distance Learning and The CPD Certification Service who certify most of our courses. So, if you’re ever in doubt, just check us out!

Reassurance over, let’s have a look what we’ve got in store for you this month. Which do you think work’s best as a management tool – the carrot or the stick? Our first ‘article’ is a You Tube clip where Dan Pink expounds his views. If you decide that a judicious mixture is the best approach then you might consider enrolling on our Employing and Motivating Staff course as it’s packed full of useful ideas.

Next we have some straightforward, sensible advice from Susan Gunelius who gives ten tips for effective copywriting. And if this whets your appetite then our Complete Copywriter Course goes on to cover the subject in more depth. You may only need the skills so that you can promote your own business – or you may want to take it a stage further and start your own copywriting business. The course is suitable for both!

And finally, we’ve got a piece looking at study strategies. It’s really aimed at university students, so it mentions attending classes and preparing for exams. But most of the advice is just as relevant to distance learning students, so I felt that these useful tips wouldn’t come amiss.
