In the Sunday Times Business Section each week they interview the Chairman/Chief Executive of a well-known company or a famous entrepreneur. They get them to give their opinions about the type of staff they prefer to employ, how they choose them at interview, their leadership style and what they feel is the most fulfilling part of their job. One point that comes up time and time again is that in order to be a good leader, you need to be a good listener. You can only find out what staff are doing, what’s going on in the company, what customers want and who your competitors are if you really listen to what people are telling you.
