One final thought on ‘selling’ yourself and your business. Networking can be a useful tool but if you take the time out to go to networking events then you must make the most of them. The aim should be to make new contact or revive old ones. Even if you don’t feel confident, try to act with confidence – and remember that there will be others in the room feeling the same way as you. If you take someone’s business card, don’t just put it away and forget about it – actually follow it up. In other words, you’re taking time away from other things you could be doing – so make it pay!
