In this issue we look at how to make the best of any interview situation; what traits you need if you’re to make it as a manager and do you really want the top job in your company – an honest appraisal!

Hello,

I went to a meeting last week where the speaker was talking about how to maintain – or preferably improve – your company’s corporate reputation. Obviously customers need to see your business as being honest and trustworthy, but they also like the idea that the company should have a ‘fun’ image – think Richard Branson and the Virgin brand!

It was a fascinating presentation and one point that struck me most was the fact that research has proved that profit increases in relation to how involved and motivated your staff are. So, in companies where staff are happy you can expect profits to rise over the following 12 months and more. Where staff are disaffected and do not feel they are involved, sales/profits tend to fall. It’s logical if you think about it and that’s why it’s so important to take care of your staff.

We’ve just introduced a new CPD (Continuing Professional Development) course: Employing and Motivating Staff - have a look at it if you feel you could be doing more to boost your company’s image.

Our articles in this issue have a common theme. First we’re going to look at getting your dream job with Interviews Made Easy. Assuming you’ve got the job and want to move up the career ladder, it might be worth knowing the 10 Traits of All Successful Managers and finally, Do You Really Want to be Chief Executive? could make you think twice. It’s tough at the top!

There’s no time like the present to get your career moving forward so I hope you find our articles useful.
