Return to Business Bites back issues

In this issue we look at Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), getting that perfect press release you’ve written to the right people and how you can improve your business image.

Last week I was reading the e-bulletin, TrainingZONE, where there was an article about a survey that had been done to establish what the most valuable qualities were that a manager should have – according to their staff! The top five were: approachability (83%); being a good communicator (82%): being supportive (81%); being a good leader (80%) and respecting their staff as individuals (76%).

Needless to say, any manager can develop these qualities, and a good place to start is by studying our Employing and Motivating Staff course!

But in addition to the above, if you are to be an effective manager you need to be in control of yourself as well as others. So why not have a look at Susan Metcalfe’s blog where she gives some good tips on avoiding work-related stress? It’s something you really need to avoid because if you’re stressed, you often don’t work effectively and your relationship with fellow workers – as well as those at home – can suffer.

Search Engine Optimisation is a topic that everyone seems to be talking about at the moment. All businesses want to draw more traffic to their website and benefit from the increased interest and sales that this brings. So our first article this month looks at ten top tips for improved SEO.

Next, we consider how to ‘talk yourself up’ – in other words to have more confidence in yourself. And finally, we’ve got the second part of our article on putting together the perfect press release.

So, let’s get on with it…
